“Tieta do Agreste” is a character created by Jorge Amado, famous brazilian writer. Tieta was portraid in soap opera, movie and book. Betty Faria is the actress who interpreted Tieta on TV. Sonia Braga, famous actress in USA, played Tieta in the movie directed by Cacá Diegues.
"Tieta do Agreste" is a story about a poor woman from Santana do Agreste (dry and very poor region in Brazil) that was banished by his father Zé Esteves. Both in the movie and in the soap opera, the bad person of the story is Perpetua, sister of Tieta. Perpetua is a widow and has a kid, Ricardo. In the story, Tieta returns to Santana do Agreste years later and finds all the family, including Ricardo by whom she falls in love.
Perpetua is the best character because she is very funny and crazy. She has a box in wich she carries the penis of his dead husband. It's very funny. And to worsen, she is bald!
