Geni

Geni is a character created by Chico Buarque in the song “Geni e o Zepelim” of the album “Opera do Malandro”. This song tells the story of Genival and Geni. Two persons in one. Genival by day, and Geni by night. One day the city where Geni lives, needs her help and his life changes (but returns to normal, moments later). This song has a politic interpretation, because this year, Brazil was in military regime.

Below, the song composed by Chico Buarque:

Geni and the Zepelim

Of everything that’s strange man

Of mangrove and pier

She has already dated

His body belongs to strangers

To blinds and retiring men

She is whoever has nothing

She is this way since she was a child
In the garage, in the snack bar,

Behind the pool, in the woods

She is queen of prison

Of crazy and disgusting people

Of the children of boarding school

And she also goes slowly

With oldies with no health

And the widows sexless

She is kindness

And because of this, the city

Repeats all over again:

Throw stones at Geni!

Throw stones at Geni!

She is made to spank
She is good to spit

She gives herself to everyone

Damn Geni!

One day, arose shiny

Behind the clouds, floating

A big Zepelim

Stopped on buildings

Open two thousands holes

With two thousands cannons

The scared city

Was paralyzed

Read to be jelly

But, on the bigger Zepelim

Down the captain

Saying: I changed idea!

When I see this city

Many horror and wrong

I decide explode everything

But, I can’t prevent the drama

If that lovely lady

This night serve me

That lady was Geni

But can not be Geni

She is made for catch

She is good for spit
She make sexy with everyone

Damn Geni!

But of fact, she was

So poor and simple
Enchanter the foreign

The gallant fighter

So powerful and feared

She was, prison

But the lady
And that was a secret her

Also have his wills

And to sleep with so high man

Smelling shine and copper

She prefer love with animals

To hear so heresy

The city in group
Was kissed his hand

The mayor of knees in ground
The priest with red eyes
And the banker with one million:

Go to her, go Geni!

Go to her, go Geni!
You can save us!

You make sexy with everyone!

Blessed Geni!

Was so many solicitations
So true and sentimental
That she change idea
And that intense night
She go to captain
Like torture

He did so much dirt
All night

Until be tired

And before dawn
He’s gone in cold cloud

With her silver zepelim

In sigh of relief

She turn around

And attempted smile

But soon dawned day

And the city sing

Don’t let she sleep

Throw stones at Geni!

Throw stones at Geni!

She is made to spank
She is good to spit

She gives herself to everyone

Damn Geni!

Tieta do Agreste

“Tieta do Agreste” is a character created by Jorge Amado, famous brazilian writer. Tieta was portraid in soap opera, movie and book. Betty Faria is the actress who interpreted Tieta on TV. Sonia Braga, famous actress in USA, played Tieta in the movie directed by Cacá Diegues.
"Tieta do Agreste" is a story about a poor woman from Santana do Agreste (dry and very poor region in Brazil) that was banished by his father Zé Esteves. Both in the movie and in the soap opera, the bad person of the story is Perpetua, sister of Tieta. Perpetua is a widow and has a kid, Ricardo. In the story, Tieta returns to Santana do Agreste years later and finds all the family, including Ricardo by whom she falls in love.
Perpetua is the best character because she is very funny and crazy. She has a box in wich she carries the penis of his dead husband. It's very funny. And to worsen, she is bald!
Two very special moments in the soap opera: Tieta's banishment and Tieta's return many years later.
The banishment

…the return.

Regina Casé

Muse of Caetano Veloso (she has two songs composed by him), famous actress, presenter of TV Show and humorist. All this things have a connection in the life of Regina Casé.

Her father Geraldo Case worked in Brazil's biggest TV station. In adolescence, Regina integrated a theater group, called "Asdrubal Trouxe o Trombone". This time Regina won the song “Rapte-me camaleoa” composed by Caetano Veloso.

In television, Regina Casé had great success when she played the character Tina Pepper. This role was inspired in Tina Turner. This character turned Regina into comedian, because after this, she went to “TV Pirata”, a comedy show.

In movies, Regina worked with the best Brazilian directors: Caca Diegues, Neville de Almeida, Arnaldo Jabour and surprisingly Caetano Veloso. “Eu tu eles” directed by Andrucha Waddington was considered the best work of Regina Casé.

In television, Regina had many TV Shows. “Esquenta”, her last show, is a success, but she had also “Brasil Legal”, “Programa Legal” and “Muvuca”. Regina finds ordinary, but talented, people. In “Esquenta” the participants talk about simple things, accompanied by samba, funk and excited people. This TV Show is like Brazil, and Brazil is like Regina Casé.
